Serbian professional soccer FK Zvezda, featuring a full-time performance from national team midfielder Hwang In-Beom, remained unbeaten in its opening two matches thanks to a “theater equalizer” in second-half stoppage time.
Zvezda drew 2-2 at home against a man-down FK Mladost Luchani in the second round of the 2024-2025 Serbian Superliga at the Raiko Mitić Stadium in Belgrade, Serbia, on Monday (Aug. 28).
After winning the opening match, Zvezda remained unbeaten in their opening two matches (W1 D1 L1).
Zvezda’s “midfield orchestrator” Hwang In-beom didn’t pick up an attacking point, but his eight key passes and 90% passing success rate in full-time action earned him a team-high 8.8 rating from Sofascore.
After starting the new season on a high note with an assist in the opening game, Hwang was rewarded with the highest rating on Sofascore for the second consecutive game.
Seol Young-woo, a “fullback resource” who recently moved to Zvezda, was left out of the starting lineup for the second straight game.
It was a shaky start for Zvezda.
After conceding an early goal to Luchani’s Ibrahima Mame Ndiaye in the 19th minute, Zvezda went down 0-2 in the first half through Nikola Cirkovic in the 37th minute.
Zvezda had a chance to fight back in the second half when Lucina winger Uros Ljubomiraj was sent off with a red card in the 25th minute.
Hwang In-Beom had a chance in the 26th minute when his strong left-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area was blocked by the defense.
Zvezda grabbed a dramatic 2-2 draw in the 40th minute after Bruno Duarte’s header from a cross from the left flank, before Cherif Ndiaye scored a dramatic equalizer with his head in stoppage time.
