Tottenham’s Son Heung-min has been named the English Premier League (EPL) Player of the Month for September.
The EPL’s governing body announced the seven nominees for September’s Player of the Month on Friday (Sept. 5), and Heung-min was among them.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Julian Alvarez (Man City), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), and Pedro Neto (Wolverhampton) are the other contenders.
“Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has perfectly executed his new role as a frontline striker over the last month,” said the EPL office.
After starting the season as a left-sided striker, Son switched to a frontline role last month. Since then, he has scored six goals in four games to help Tottenham go unbeaten and move into second place. Only one point separates them from leaders Manchester City.
He scored a hat trick, including his first goal of the season, against Burnley in the fourth round of the EPL on March 2. Spurs cruised to a 5-2 victory behind Son’s performance, and he followed it up with a multi-goal performance in a 2-2 draw with 사설토토 Arsenal in Round 6. He also scored in the seventh leg against Liverpool, helping them to a 2-1 victory.
The Spurs remain unbeaten in September with three wins and one draw, thanks to Son’s performance.
If Son wins the EPL Player of the Month award, it will be his fourth. He also won the award in September 2016, April 2017, and October 2020.
