Jang Hyun-gu and Kyunghyang Shinmun’s Kim Se-hoon will jointly receive the Sports Journalist of the Year Award from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.The Korea Sports Journalists’ Federation announced on Nov. 11, “We selected candidates for the Sports Journalist of the Year Award by adding journalists who received quarterly sports journalist awards from the fourth quarter of last year to the third quarter of this year, as well as journalists recommended by 33 member companies, and based on this, we held a judging committee on Nov. 30 and selected Jang Hyun-gu and Kim Se-hoon as the winners.”
Yonhap News Agency’s Jang Hyun-koo won the quarterly Sports Reporter of the Year Award in the fourth quarter of last year for his article “SSG President Ryu Sun-kyu Suddenly Resigns…Stepped Down Even After Winning, Saying Nothing Afterward.” Kim Se-hoon of The Korea Herald won the Sports Reporter of the Year Award in the second and third quarters of this year, reporting on “Equestrian Association to Pay 100 Million won per person to compete in Asian Games” in the second quarter and “Black Connection in Football” in the third quarter.The Commercial Reporter of the Year award went to KBS’s Lee Jun-hee.The awards ceremony will be held at the 슬롯게이밍 2023 Sports Journalists’ Night at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul on Nov. 18.
