After delivering the game-winning hit that lifted the Pittsburgh Pirates out of a five-game losing streak, Choi Ji-Man brought the energy to the dugout with a raucous celebration at first base.
In the bottom of the seventh inning of the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series home opener against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday (Aug. 20), Choi hit a two-run, game-winning single to right field to lift the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 7-5 victory.
Choi celebrated the hit by pumping his fist in the air and running to first base, where he pulled a long knife from his waistband as he looked toward the dugout.
True to their team name, the Pittsburgh Pirates celebrate every hit or RBI by pulling a knife out of the dugout.
“It was a win we needed today,” Choi told MLB.com after the game, “We’ve been struggling the last couple days and we needed a win today to get some momentum back.”
“I thought we needed more energy in the dugout, so I drew my sword harder than usual,” Choi said of the fiery ceremony.
Pittsburgh, which narrowly escaped a five-game losing streak, is at the bottom of the National League Central, 10.5 games behind the first-place Milwaukee Brewers. 파워볼사이트
