Onyang Girls’ Middle School’s Park Ji-min is expected to avenge her death

“If we don’t win this match (in the middle of Sufia Girls’ Middle School), we can’t win this year. If we meet, I really want to win.”

With the curtain on the 79th National Men’s and Women’s Classification Championship (hereinafter referred to as the Classification Competition) in Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, on the 5th, Onyang Girls’ Middle School beat Sookmyung Girls’ Middle School 50-44 in the final. Onyang Girls’ Middle School, which has been at the top of the classification competition for two consecutive years, enjoyed its second win of the season following the long term of the association in April.

The honor of the Most Valuable Player went to Park Ji-min (172 cm, F). Park averaged 17.4 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.2 blocks in a total of five games from the preliminaries to the finals.

Coach Park Bum-ik also praised Park, saying, “I always train diligently. I had some weak mentality, but I didn’t feel that way at this year’s competition. I have improved my defense skills a lot, and I want to give high scores in attack and defense balance.”

After finishing the race, Park said in a telephone interview with this newspaper, “I am glad to see the results of the training that I have done so far. I practiced according to my coach’s training and worked well with my teammates.”

“The team’s mood will be revived only when the team catches offensive rebounds. I paid a lot of attention to the bad things, but I think the game went well because I made a good three-point shot. When it comes to defense, the coach told me, ‘What is this player good at?’ so I blocked him thinking about that,” he said, signaling the driving force of his performance.

“Actually, I didn’t know I would win the MVP award. I didn’t have to win the award, so I tried my best not to regret it. I was a bit puzzled when Park Ji-min was called (the best player), but I felt good inside,” he said.
Park Ji-min started playing basketball at Dongshin Elementary School in Onyang towards the end of her third year of elementary school. She caught the basketball thanks to her four-year-old brother (Park Ji-hoo at Hwimungo).

Park said, “I was originally playing soccer. I don’t remember well, but one day when my mom asked me about my dream, I heard that I was a member of the national team. I think my mom thought of basketball because my brother was playing basketball among Cheonan Castle. So I moved to a nearby Onyang. I think it’s because of my brother that I started playing basketball.”

When asked about his strengths, he replied, “I want to point out that I can see both inside and outside. I am short in positions 4 to 5, but I am rather tall in positions 1 to 3. I can post-up even if I play the screen with Eunseo and Eunseo’s defense sticks to me.”

In addition, he said, “I didn’t shoot well, but some shots were made in this competition. I want to continue my shooting experience in the match against King Wangjung. I practice shooting a lot every day. If I make a shot, I can break through smoothly. I want to be a player who is good at both shooting and breaking through.”

They named Kim Dan-bi and Park Ji-hyun as their role models. “Both of them are good at both inside and outside. I want to learn how to make 3-pointers, breakthroughs, and even mischievous things,” Park said.

Meanwhile, Coach Park Bum-ik said, “For the past three years, we have almost won a competition where Supia Girls’ Middle School does not have a Supia Girls’ High School. However, we have never won a competition among Supia Girls’ Middle School (for three years). This is a part that needs to be resolved. As far as I know, Supia Girls’ Middle School will not appear at the autumn competition. This is the last competition where we will meet this year (with Supia Girls’ Middle School). I hope we will continue to show good performance in the remaining competitions and win over Supia Girls’ Middle School,” in expressing caution against Supia Girls’ Middle School.

Park Ji-min also said, “(Sufia Girls’ Middle School) is a particularly challenging opponent because there are many players who are fast on offense and play poorly. There was a game where I could win, but I lost because I couldn’t get my act together. Sufia Girls’ Middle School is not expected to be included in the autumn. If she fails to win the match (in the middle of Sufia Girls’ Middle School), she will not be able to win this year. I really want to win if I meet her,” he said, vowing to avenge Sufia Girls’ Middle School.안전놀이터

At the end of the interview, Park Ji-min was determined to participate in the 2024 weekend league King of Kings, leaving behind the lingering effects of winning the final round.

Park Ji-min said, “I made many mistakes in this competition as well as in matches against Supia Girls’ Middle School. I should reduce my ridiculous mistakes. If you don’t lose to your sisters and do it confidently, you will get good results again. (Shin) Seo-bin is a junior, so the last time she plays at a junior high school together. I want to win Supia Girls’ Middle School in a good mood. I will focus on bad things by playing defense first.”
